Designing interaction systems for physical experiences is a hugely varied field and involves a lot of cross-disciplinary work, including:
⚙️ Interfacing audio, visuals, gaming and haptics systems to work together.
⚙️ Using data to drive creative and educational outputs – like visualisation (making visuals from data) or sonification (making sound from data).
⚙️ Creating interactive devices that change the experience through participants’ bodies or voices, drawing from my expertise in Instrument Design.
⚙️ Producing “black-box” systems which need minimal calibration or supervision, requiring less skilled staffing from venue partners.
Because of my background in Sound Production, I’m specialised in advanced audio techniques within installation contexts – mixing binaural sound for 3D environments in headphone experiences, creating multiple-speaker systems for immersion and emplacement, and creative use of microphones for interactivity.
