Theatre

Technology in theatre is usually a mix of lights, sound and audiovisual systems. Setting up a space for a theatre production means understanding both how to physically rig and connect lighting fixtures, speakers and projectors, and how to programme the software that controls them. In the UK, shows are mostly operated through the industry standard show control Qlab. My first jobs out of university were in backstage theatre as an all-round technician and as a sound designer/composer. I’ve even created and toured my own theatre shows. This has given me a huge sensitivity into how technology can and should work on-stage.

I still work in theatre now, mostly specialising in devised and interactive theatre – you can check my work out at my theatre sound portfolio.
