About Xavier

Bio

Xavier Velastín Vicencio is an award-winning sound artist and technologist working across performance, installation, gaming and web contexts.

His creative practice focuses strongly on our relationship with the environment, decentering the human in listening practices, and using technology to find new ways to be emotional with each other.

⚙️ Xavier is a permanent member of the prestigious arts and technology hub, the Pervasive Media Studios in Bristol, UK.

✍️ He was one of twenty residents of the temporary Design Studio by New Diorama Theatre in London in 2022.

🐸 He is a Creative Fellow of the British Library's Eccles Institute in collaboration with Sebas Hau-Walker.

🌮 He is part of the Latin American performance collective Itzatna Arts , contributing audio and technical services.

🦠 And a founding member of the digital network Organism Collective.

Xavier has been an integral part of pieces at many internationally renowned venues in the UK like the Barbican Centre, Southbank Centre and the Royal Exchange Theatre. He has also presented work in global contexts, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, FIAT Montenegro and Univalle.
