I’ve been working professionally in creative audio since 2014. In that time I’ve recorded, edited, synthesised, mixed and presented a huge range of sound and music.
Recording ranges from capturing voice actors’ narration for an audio walk, or musicians as part of a soundtrack, or even out in the field with specialised microphones to get unique sound effects. Once recorded, I might use specialised tools like iZotope RX to clean them up to get them sounding crisp and balanced to a professional standard.
Mixing depends heavily on the final output: a headphone experience might benefit from binaural sound, to make the listener feel they’re immersed in a three-dimensional environment; a game-like experience might need dynamic mixing which highlights different types of sounds at different points; a mobile audio experience will need to be mixed specifically to sound clear even through small speakers.
